NMC – British Columbia Region
The National Managers’ Community (NMC) British Columbia (BC) Region is a grassroots, horizontal, national network of federal public service managers from all departments and agencies across the province.
The NMC BC Region brings managers together to learn from each other and share best practices and speaks on behalf of managers, bringing issues that matter most to the attention of senior officials.
The activities and priorities of the NMC BC Region are directed through a steering committee which consists of representatives from departments and agencies located in British Columbia. These volunteers provide a communication link between the NMC and the regional managers and provide a voice and direction for the managers and leaders within their respective department and agency.
For 2011/12, the NMC BC Region is focused on the following key priorities:
-
Supporting the Federal Management Agenda
The NMC BC Region seeks to tackle issues on matters of importance to managers and influence positive change. We are continuously consulting with the management community to seek its input, and we use this intelligence to engage and collaborate with senior leaders, central agencies, departments, and other key players on issues and topics related to managers. We provide managers across the region with an opportunity to have a voice on key government policies and priorities that impact them and their workplace.
-
Professional Development
The NMC BC Region will focus its efforts to support departmental managers’ networks across the province to strengthen its outreach capacity. The NMC BC Region will continue to deliver learning events that engage managers and benefit organizations as well as the federal public service as a whole. Key among these initiatives is our regional learning events and our “Tools for Engagement” sessions (especially the Coaching Practices for Managers workshops and community of practice).
-
Network Outreach
We will continue our emphasis on increasing awareness of the NMC and its programs and services within the management community, as well as within the senior ranks in the public service. The NMC BC Region will continue to leverage the strength of its professional employees as well as its many dedicated volunteer managers who serve on national and regional committees and others who volunteer their time to deliver NMC learning events. We will also continue to work with other networks and communities to further our capacity to serve the community.
Managers in British Columbia are automatically part of the NMC BC Region and are encouraged to participate in NMC BC activities.
All our events are listed on the NMC’s Calendar of Events.
