Description: Please join colleagues from across New Brunswick in a social media and government discovery day of Web 2.0, 3.0, Wikis, Blogs, Twitter, and more! Public social networking sites have fast become a new form of communication in our daily lives, supplanting traditional tools like e-mail, but there’s more to social networking than Twitter and Facebook, wikis and blogs, and more.
Learn about the latest social software applications and collaborative Web environments. Let’s look at how they can be used to move an institution's goals forward, and also how they can disrupt organizations. We’ll be looking at the use of social networking tools to achieve specific objectives as well as look at the New Brunswick reality in terms of social media for both the English and French communities. Learn practical information and tricks of the trade.
This full day event will include presentations from the following speakers, with an afternoon session dedicated to café style table discussions.
As this session is in partnership with the National Managers’ Community, we remind everyone that we would appreciate that you attend the full day session, and network with colleagues during breaks and lunch.

Description: Virtual team-building is skyrocketing! Six years ago, 45 million employees worked remotely at least one day per week. In 2010, the virtual workforce will reach 100 million. While the numbers are interesting, what speaks volumes about this new trend is the strong impact effective virtual teams are having on their companies: saving costs, boosting productivity, enhancing job satisfaction and improving bottom-line finances. The most successful virtual teams are embracing new technologies and are increasingly less reliant upon email and PDAs.
Attendees will update their virtual team skills and learn tools and techniques to communicate more effectively in a networked world.
Note that this Armchair Discussion is a partnership between the Canada School and the National Managers Community in the National Capital Region.
